Jane Stogner's "Contentment"

“BALD KNOB ARTISTS”

Bald Knob Artists, a new group of over 20 area artists (and growing!) organized in April by well-known, award-winning painter and art teacher Jane Stogner, met May 3 in the Conference Room of the Franklin County Public Library in downtown Rocky Mount, VA. Shelley Koopmann was elected President and Phil Sheridan Vice President. Both live in Moneta.

Area artists of all levels of skill are invited to attend the meetings of Bald Knob Artists. The next meetings will be June 7 at 1:00 and July 12 at 1:00 at the library. With the exception of July, the first Wednesday of each month is the regular meeting time, and some meetings may include field trips or other locations, depending on the programs. Future programs might include a visit from Roanoke artist Mary Jane Burch, a tour of the extensive art collections at Ferrum College, a tour of the art at the Eleanor D. Wilson Museum at the Richard Wetherill Art facility on the Hollins University campus, and artists showing how they draw, paint, use pastel, etc.

There are no membership dues. The library is handicap accessible. The artists participating live all over the region. Some are new at what they do in art. Some are accomplished, award-winning artists. Some travel regularly to places like Italy for workshops. It is a lively, friendly group of people interested in sharing ideas, inspiration, experiences, techniques, and encouragement. Their work is varied, and done in pastel, acrylic, pencil, colored pencil, or oils.
